About Us

Welcome to the official website of Irish Jiu-Jitsu Academy.

Irish Jiu-Jitsu Academy is a school of excellence in the training and teaching of the art of modern and traditional jiu-jitsu. It was founded by Renshi Hazel Farrell in 2001 and currently has affiliated clubs in Waterford, Wexford, Maynooth, Dublin and Kilkenny.

Irish Jiu-Jitsu Academy is a family orientated organisation that promotes high moral standards and strives to actively avoid any of the politics typically associated with martial arts organisations. Within the academy, dignity and respect among students and instructors is central to our ethos in order to maintain a positive and fulfilling training experience.

The academy is non-political and non-discriminate with regard to nationality, gender or age. Activities include training at club level, the running of self-defence courses for schools and various private groups, the training of demonstration teams, the organisation of training conventions, the hosting of international jiu-jitsu students and instructors, in addition to the running of grading sessions and organisation of travel to international training seminars.

All Irish Jiu-Jitsu Academy instructors have completed child safety and protection courses.

It has come to our attention that an inferior copycat website has been launched. While we are flattered that another group would like to become associated with us, we would like to clarify that Irish Jiu-Jitsu Academy has no association with this group and this is the only official website of the organisation. We would like to draw your attention to our Legal page for more information.
